Release of Edgio Integration

DataDome’s purpose is to protect our customers against threats on any infrastructure. DataDome continues to expand the list of supported at-the-edge integrations and CDN integrations by introducing the support of Edgio (formerly called “Limelight Networks” before the acquisition of Edgecast Inc. and Layer0). 

Edgio is a CDN and compute-at-the-edge platform. For our customers, integrating DataDome at the CDN/edge level is the best path for protection. That way, the scalability of the protection will be handled by the CDN platform, so when attacks occur, they will be distributed across hundreds points of presence (PoPs) rather than the origin.

DataDome is the only bot protection solution that supports all CDN leaders, including Akamai, Apigee X, Cloudflare, Luman (through Section.io), AWS CloudFront, and Fastly!

Integrated Protection in Real Time

When we release a new integration, our goal is always to provide an easy setup for our customer. Edgio is no different; the integration is straightforward and uses CDN-as-code (EdgeJS) and Edgio Serverless Compute to integrate DataDome Bot Protection and protect all dynamic requests received by the Edgio CDN in real time!

And if a request is coming from a bot, we will display the privacy-compliant, secure, and accessible DataDome CAPTCHA.

Setup Overview

The setup involves four main steps to ensure full integration between DataDome and Edgio. You can find more in-depth instructions in our Edgio technical integration documentation. The steps relayed here are meant to provide a simplistic overview of the process.

1. Get your Server Side API key from our Dashboard and add it inside the Edgio environment variable.
2. Import our npm package inside your code configuration. The npm package implements all our business logic and will do the magic for you.
3. Update your routes.js code to call DataDome Protection.
4. Push your new code to Edgio. You are now protected and you can see your traffic in real time inside our Dashboard!
