Unleashing Global Performance With More DataDome PoPs
In today’s digitally driven world, the battle against malicious bots and fraudsters is a top priority for online businesses. To help enterprises combat evolving threats effectively, DataDome must continue optimizing our ability to process every request every time—at the edge.
That’s why we are excited to announce the strategic expansion of our global points of presence (PoPs), starting with a brand new PoP on AWS infrastructure in Spain.
The new PoP brings our total global PoPs to 26, increasing DataDome’s leadership in coverage, speed, and performance among bot mitigation specialists. Every millisecond counts when securing the online user experience, and significant performance advantages arise from an extensive global PoP network.

Faster Response Times
DataDome is unique among bot vendors because our solution inspects every request, every time to customers’ websites, apps, and APIs. Other vendors typically sample requests in a session—an easy way to get fooled by human-bot hybrid attacks. Inspecting every request is how DataDome delivers an industry-leading 0.01% false positive rate.
Our zero trust approach requires a more advanced solution architecture to ensure optimal performance. DataDome’s solution responds to requests in under 2 milliseconds to ensure our protection is never a bottleneck for your business. A primary benefit of strategically placing more PoPs worldwide is improved response times.
One key part of maintaining our advanced architecture is building for scalability with an extensive global PoP network. DataDome can bring its bot protection services far closer to the edge—and our customers’ end users—with each new PoP. Closer proximity reduces total latency and ensures faster bot detection and mitigation worldwide, whether your content is hosted on your own servers or one of the several CDN providers we support.
As a result, websites, apps, and APIs are accurately protected against bot attacks while maintaining optimal online performance, delivering seamless user experiences, and safeguarding revenue-generating activities.
Scalability & Resilience
Increasing DataDome’s number of well-placed global PoPs provides our customers with better scalability and resilience. We can better distribute the incoming request traffic for inspection across a larger PoP infrastructure to ensure that each PoP operates within its capacity.
DataDome’s scalability enables seamless handling of increasing volumes of bot traffic—even peak traffic from events like ticket sales—without compromising performance or impeding legitimate end user traffic.
Distributed networks offer resilience against DDoS attacks and data center outages. Our ability to reroute traffic to unaffected PoPs minimizes disruptions for end users and maintains availability, even in the face of large-scale outages. The more PoPs available, the easier the load can be managed.
Localized Intelligence & Adaptability
Having more global PoPs also allows DataDome to collect localized intelligence about emerging threats and adapt mitigation strategies in real time. Each PoP captures real-time data about incoming bot traffic, including its source, behavior, and patterns, which is invaluable for informing comprehensive bot protection.
By analyzing data from different regions, DataDome can identify regional variations in bot activity, refine our ML-based detection models, and deploy targeted countermeasures. Collective intelligence from all our PoPs enhances the accuracy and effectiveness of DataDome’s bot mitigation, ensuring that protected businesses stay ahead of evolving bot threats.
Testing to Validate Performance
Although there are numerous benefits of maintaining more PoPs globally, DataDome still must test and validate performance improvements before going live with a new PoP. There are factors outside DataDome’s control, such as the public internet’s network performance, that can also impact latency. Therefore, we must test rigorously to discover the actual impact on latency.
DataDome recently tested two potential PoP locations in the APAC region, but our test data demonstrated there was no clear performance improvement, so the idea of opening those particular PoPs was determined not to be beneficial for customers.
On the other hand, DataDome’s new PoP in Spain, which is generally available now, confirmed a significant improvement in performance at the p75, p95, and p99 levels.
DataDome saw a significant improvement in latency for all customers located in the South West of Europe. Specifically, DataDome measured a decrease of latency for Fastly and Cloudflare customers located in the area:
Fastly
- ~70% performance boost at p99.
- ~84% performance boost at p95.
- ~33% performance boost at p75.
Cloudflare
- 40% performance boost at p99.
- 31% performance boost at p95.
- 40% performance boost at p75.
Conclusion
With the right PoP infrastructure in place, enterprises can confidently defend their digital assets from fraudsters and maintain a secure online environment for their users. The advantages of a comprehensive global PoP network for bot and online fraud protection are undeniable:
- Improved response times.
- Greater scalability.
- Resilience against attacks and unplanned outages.
- Localized intelligence.
More PoPs empower DataDome to deliver top-notch protection against malicious bots while optimizing performance for our customers worldwide.
