DataDome recognized as a ‘Strong Performer’ in Forrester’s Q1 2020 Bot Management Report

DataDome has been named a Strong Performer in the Forrester New Wave™: Bot Management, Q1 2020 report by Forrester Research, Inc., for the second consecutive year.

We are honored to be ranked in the upper tier of the 13 bot protection providers, worldwide, that Forrester considers to matter most. The Forrester New Wave™ is the research firm’s evaluation of top products in an emerging technology market, and ranks vendors based on a 10-criterion survey and a 2-hour briefing with each vendor.

The recognition caps a year of tremendous advancement and growth for DataDome. Throughout 2019, our consistent focus on solving real customer problems and meeting our ambitious growth objectives were rewarded with a series of major customer wins—including several household names—against our larger American competitors.

Key takeaways from the report

In a related research document, New Tech: Bot Management, Q4 2019, Forrester concluded that bot management is becoming necessary protection against automated attacks. Bot management vendors can be segmented into three categories:

• Advertising verification and brand safety tools
• Web application firewalls that expand to thwart attacks from automated traffic
• Bot management specialists that provide real-time defense.

The New Wave™ report emphasizes even more strongly how evolving bad bot attacks require sophisticated, real-time solutions, especially to combat the most advanced bots that are able to mimic human behavior.

Bot management tools must determine the intent of automated traffic in real-time to distinguish between good bots and bad bots.

Forrester considers attack detection, attack response, and reporting to be the key differentiators. The leading bot management tools combine extensive signal collection with deep analysis, offer a range of responses, and provide reports and dashboards that address both security and business concerns.

Forrester’s take on the DataDome solution

In Forrester’s 2018 New Wave™, its first report dedicated to bot management, the research firm recognized DataDome’s strong real-time detection capabilities. The analysts concluded that “DataDome is the best fit for companies that require speedy detection and response.”

This year, DataDome achieved the highest score for two other evaluation criteria: Management UI and Reporting and Analytics.

Forrester reports that the DataDome customers they interviewed “strongly praised the intuitive console and UI”, and cites a customer stating that “[t]he intuitive interface was an important factor to the easy adoption of all frequent and occasional users”.

For example:

• Do you value security solutions that run on autopilot with minimal interventions from your team?
• Is it important to you that new technology solutions integrate quickly and seamlessly, without requiring any changes to your existing architecture?
• How about fully transparent, per-use pricing, with no hidden or surprise fees?

These criteria were not evaluated in the report, but our experience is that they matter a lot to many organizations.
