Introducing DataDome Workspaces: Tailored, Laser-Focused Protection for Every Facet of Your Business

Table of contents

Enterprises are complex. So is securing them.

Simplicity is a great starting principle, but “one size fits all” security solutions don’t work for everyone. Many organizations need fine-tuned solutions, especially when facing sophisticated bot attacks against their websites, apps, and APIs.

Enterprises often have different security needs for different business units, corporate brands, or even products. For example, a retailer may need to protect against scalping or account takeovers for their hot footwear line, and prevent fake reviews for their general apparel line. Organizations that operate in multiple geographies may also require custom protection models based on buyer behavior, risk profile, or traffic—not to mention different users and customers.

DataDome’s solution is easy to use, from the user dashboard to automated protection, and serves as a force multiplier for many security organizations. That’s why we’re a run-away leader in G2’s customer satisfaction score for best bot detection and mitigation.

Now, we’re taking a big step with our customers and introducing DataDome Workspaces—a new standardized offering that allows for multiple tenants within any enterprise or business. Even though multiple instances have always been possible, this new introduction of Workspaces makes the process far easier, giving customers the ability to manage views and customize protections based on their needs.

DataDome Workspaces gives you the power of DataDome, tailored to fit the complexity of your enterprise organization.

What are DataDome Workspaces?

Workspaces are separate, isolated environments within a single application or platform that:

  • Allow users to manage different sets of data, settings, and configurations, and apply custom detection and protections.
  • Provide organization and separation for a multi-tenant organization.
  • Allow admins to switch between workspaces to access and manage information and resources relevant to specific needs.

Now, some security tools do offer custom views that you can create based on different roles or reporting requirements. As in, “I want a view for my SecOps lead as well as for my application developers.” That’s great, but a true workspace is not just a custom view—it’s a completely free-standing and separate instance. There are four primary components to a DataDome Workspace:

  • Dedicated account & user interface (UI).
  • Laser-focused fraud detection.
  • Compartmentalized data storage.
  • Enterprise-grade services that fit each team.

Dedicated Account & UI

Each Workspace provides its users with a dedicated set of product-related features, including account security (SSO/MFA), a dedicated set of API keys, 3rd-party integrations and webhooks, personalized alerts and extracts of each Workspace’s traffic, and audit trail available for each workspace.

Laser-Focused Fraud Detection

Each Workspace can have customized real-time detection that runs on autopilot. That means you can create and test custom security policies for each workspace based on a 30-day sample of live traffic. All ML models are designed for each use case based on business context and are monitored 24/7. The response strategy is applied on the first user request, including escalation options from one set of responses to another, which can be defined per workspace.

Compartmentalized Data Storage

Each Workspace benefits from segregated data clusters, allowing for customized data processing & storage.

Services

More distinct Workspaces can mean different teams and users. This makes services and support critical, so the entire organization realizes the maximum value. After all, every facet of your business deserves the best—from protection to support. Support includes DataDome’s professional services, training programs, shared technical support, as well as monthly & quarterly check-ins. Different teams can also leverage SOC, crisis, and ad hoc services.

Turn Workspaces Into a Force Multiplier

We’re not just talking about creating a few Workspaces per customer and calling it a day. DataDome already has several customers that are taking advantage of anywhere from 15 up to nearly 50 Workspaces!

This means a couple of things:

  1. DataDome Workspaces are easy for customers to light up; it’s a process that can essentially be done on your own (no need for an army of vendor consultants).
  2. Managing and operating different workspaces, like DataDome’s dashboard user experience, is easy for both admins and users.

Let me give a couple of examples.

One corporate enterprise has multiple different operating geographies and needed a workspace for each one. DataDome provided four total Workspaces to start with, and the customer can increase that number over time. With multiple Workspaces, this enterprise has enabled separate admin access for each operating team for their own threat dashboards, and not the others. They have also been able to set up their own distinct protection models based on consumer behavior and security preferences.

Another corporate enterprise customer, formed through the merger of three separate mutual insurance companies, manages 3-4 different brands.

This customer wanted distinct granularity for each brand to deliver fine-tuned website protection against bots, and wanted to build and provide access to a separate dashboard for each brand. While there is a centralized security and technical organization for all brands, there were specialized teams in different physical locations for each brand. As a result, with multiple DataDome Workspaces set up, they were able to maintain admin isolation so each brand does not have access to the others.

The Value of Separate Workspaces

So what do these customers get by using multiple Workspaces with DataDome?

  • Access management: To segment different brands and different products.
  • FinOps: Dedicated sizing per workspace eases the billing process for groups (internal re-invoicing).
  • Custom configuration: Each workspace gets its dedicated sets of custom rules and tailored detection.
  • High performance: More workspaces does not mean performance gets congested.
  • Specific information for decision-making: See the data that impacts the particular product, business unit, or geography without flaws from averaged or commingled information.
